10 reasons you NEED to visit The Apple Farm in Tipperary

IMG_5608Ireland doesn’t have particularly good camping weather – I know, I’ve camped in more storms than I care to remember – but it’s such a beautiful country that you should try it out!

Every year we head to a new campsite, and this summer we went down to The Apple Farm in Cahir, Co. Tipperary for the August Bank Holiday weekend. And even though we arrived and left as the rain pelted, I can honestly say it was an idyllic spot – even in the rain and wind!

I actually stumbled across this campsite by accident in a mad panic trying to book something for the BH. As per, I left it to the last minute and, not surprisingly, everywhere was booked up. However, it was actually a really good find and I’m sure we’ll be heading down again soon!

Here are my ten reasons why you absolutely need to put this spot on your to-visit list:

1. You can go strawberry picking

And the strawberries are delicious!

2. It’s clean

Bathrooms, showers, kitchen area – it’s all sparkling.

3. Everyone is so friendly

When we first arrived we were greeted by this really friendly young lady, who was extremely polite and helpful.

4. It’s absolutely beautiful

Seriously – the pictures don’t lie.

5. There’s a donkey

No farm is complete without an adorable donkey who makes a a fair amount of noise!

6. You can go on a farm walk

When we went on the walk around the orchard we were accompanied by a very friendly farm dog. In fact, we were convinced it was showing us around!

7. It’s near the road but really quiet

The last thing you want is to spend the nights trying to drown out the sound of a motorway, something you don’t have to do here.

8. The shop

I picked up their homemade apple juice, jam and sparkling pink lemonade and can honestly say it was delicious. And with very few ingredients it was a treat that didn’t make you feel guilty.

9. The hares

You can spend a good few hours trying to spot the hares as they run between the apples trees

10. It’s family-friendly

And with a young child that is one of the most important, for me anyway!

So do I recommend heading here for a few days? Totally!
